The beautiful thing about agile is that through ideation, we can get really close without pondering and wasting time trying to get it perfect on the first try. The reality is, nothing will ever be perfect. We put a lot of time and effort into a project just to be let down by our unrealistic expectations when our end result contains flaws. To hold yourself to realistic standardsįor many of us, we expect to produce perfection. By the end of the last episode, we were a well-oiled machine, we looked out for each other and supported each other in whatever needed to be accomplished.Ģ. Even if we didn't want to (mind you, we absolutely did), we naturally got to know each other well just by going through the process and putting our ideas on the table. At each step there were a lot of ideas we were bouncing off of each other. Using agile, we followed the process step by step for each episode. This quarter I was on a team of four led by a product manager where we created three podcast episodes. To practice team building in a way that is both productive and effective So, allow me share with you what I've learned following agile this quarter and why it can make such a difference in your work. If it sounds like I have an inside scoop of agile, it's because I've been immersed in the process the last few months and I've become passionate about it as I come to the end of creating my personal brand and products for clients. As they iterate, the team learns much more about their customers, the project at hand, and ways to create more value. As the team solves problems along the way, they continue to deliver value that naturally becomes higher quality.Īdaptations happen constantly so efficiency is always being optimized. Agile functions in phases where you plan, design, develop, test, deliver, improve, launch and repeat. The team learns and problem-solves together and celebrate small successes as they work their way to their agreed-upon goal. Agile begins with an abstract idea that grows within a team rather than individual participants.
